About Energy Developments

Energy Developments is an Australian based renewable and remote-area energy supplier with international operations.

The Companys headquarters are located in Queensland, Australia with operations in Australia, the United States, Europe and the United Kingdom.

Energy Developments is involved in project development, finance, design, construction, operation and maintenance of international small scale power-generating and energy delivery projects.

The Company owns and operates 78 power stations and has total installed generation capacity of 600MW (as at 30 June 2009).

Energy Developments has four core business areas:

Landfill Gas (LFG) power generation;
Waste Coal Mine Gas (WCMG) power generation;
Remote-area power generation; and
Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) and Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) power generation and associated energy solutions.

The Company is one of Australia’s largest, clean-energy companies listed on the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX).

Energy Developments listed on the ASX in 1993 and is part of the S&P/ASX 300 index, recognised as the benchmark for investment-quality securities on the Australian market.

The Company generates revenue from:

Providing and selling electricity to direct customers, such as large electricity retailers and mining companies;
Providing energy delivery direct to customers;
Generating and selling environmental credits in international, national and state-based schemes; and
Managing landfill gas fields.

Energy Developments’ customers are typically large public companies or government bodies including AGL, Anglo Coal, BHP Billiton, Horizon Power, Npower, Power Water Corporation and Xstrata. Other customers include large energy retailers and owners of landfill sites.

The Company is focused on significantly increasing its installed generation capacity through upgrading capacity at existing facilities and developing new projects.

The most recent major project commissioned was the $60 million 45 megawatt (MW) Moranbah North WCMG project.

In 2007, Energy Developments captured an estimated 8.5 million tonnes of Greenhouse Gas (measured as tonnes carbon dioxide equivalents) from its projects around the world. That is equivalent to taking 2.2 million cars from the road.

In Australia, the Company prevents more than 5 million tonnes of CO2 and other forms of GHG pollution entering the atmosphere, while producing enough clean electricity to power approximately 200,000 homes each year.

Participation in Green Credit and Carbon Abatement Schemes

Authorities around the world are seeking new and better ways of reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, leading to significant growth in GHG reduction and green credit schemes. These schemes are designed to reduce carbon emissions and to encourage “cleaner, greener, power generation”.

Governments generally set targets for the amount of renewable or clean energy to be generated as a proportion of the energy mix and are likely to place limits on allowable volumes of GHG emissions.

Energy Developments’ projects participate in GHG reduction/green credit schemes throughout the world, with credits derived from LFG and WCMG projects.

The Company is currently involved in three main schemes in Australia and the UK being:

The Australian Mandatory Renewable Energy Target scheme;
The New South Wales Greenhouse Gas Abatement scheme; and
The UK Renewable Obligation scheme.

The Company also sells voluntary emissions reduction certificates under a number of State based green energy schemes in the United States.
